Shiny, Happy Hair

Tuesday, December 29th, 2009

My stylist turned me on to this product months ago and with the dry winter air, I find I’m using it more and more, especially over the holidays. In fact, I’m pretty much addicted to it: Moroccan Oil.
I’m far from the first to evangelize this stuff. Celebs and style editors have been buzzing about it [...]

Thai Chef and Noodle Fusion
2028 Chestnut St.
Philadelphia, PA 19103

My father is fond of the saying, “If it’s too good to be true, it probably is.” Such was the case with my lunch outing yesterday. The place had been recommended to my girlfriend, JLO, by someone who lives in the neighborhood. It was only a few [...]

Free Delivery!

Monday, December 14th, 2009

A friend of mine recently tweeted that she had 16 Christmas gifts delivered to her house from one website (nice, shopping, girl!) I’m wagering they were also delivered by one delivery person, which is what inspired this week’s modern manners lesson: tip your driver.
Think about all the time and trouble he/she has saved you. Remember [...]

I’m probably hinting at my age with this post, but I know I won’t be alone when I tell you I am a huge fan of the tv show Friends. I experienced an amazing thrill when honey and I started dating and I discovered he had never seen the show!! Oh, the joy of knowing [...]

Mango Madness

Tuesday, December 8th, 2009

I admit, I screwed up. With the excitement of going to the Daily Show and yet more family drama, I totally missed Thirsty Thursday last week. My apologies.
In a feeble attempt to make it up to you, I present you with the first-ever Toasty Tuesday. I served this one the afternoon of the Phillies’ World [...]

Mat Manners

Monday, December 7th, 2009

I am seeing a lot of new people in yoga class these days, which is awesome. However, I’ve noticed there seem to be some common questions and missteps and at my studio, protocol is not always immediately clear. It seems un-yoga like to put up a list of rules, don’t you think?
So, consider this week’s [...]

Taking Action Against AIDS

Friday, December 4th, 2009

This past Tuesday, December 1, was World AIDS day and ActionAIDS, Pennsylvania’s largest AIDS service organization launched a new ad campaign focused on educating Philadelphians about prevention. Every 9.5 minutes, someone in the United States is infected with HIV/AIDS, and the rate of infection in Philly is five times the national average!
The campaign was [...]

At the COPA Cabana

My yoga studio (Wake Up Yoga, 1839 East Passyunk Ave.) features a little shop inside with a variety of goods from local sources. Yoga tees, tanks & pants, mat carry bags, handmade scarves and jewelry are displayed near the front desk and around the studio entrance.
Among the items are naturally-made soaps and candles. My girlfriend [...]

Philly’s Holiday Tradition

Wednesday, December 2nd, 2009

Thanksgiving is over and Christmas is looming. They’re lighting the tree in center city soon and I am starting to stress. Don’t get me wrong, I love Christmas, it’s just a lot of work and for us, a lot of traveling. With two sets of divorced parents, my fiance and I typically spend the majority [...]
