At the COPA Cabana
My yoga studio (Wake Up Yoga, 1839 East Passyunk Ave.) features a little shop inside with a variety of goods from local sources. Yoga tees, tanks & pants, mat carry bags, handmade scarves and jewelry are displayed near the front desk and around the studio entrance.

C.O.P.A. Soaps' Mango soap has mango butter, good for dry skin.
Among the items are naturally-made soaps and candles. My girlfriend and I smell a different soap every time we’re there and today, I decided to pick up a bar of mango soap from Beekman’s C.O.P.A. (Coconut, Olive, Palm & Almond oil) Soaps, so named because they are handmade in small batches from saponified coconut, olive, palm and almond oil, right here in Philadelphia.
The bar lathered up nicely and really was reminiscent of fresh sliced mango, which made me long for the Caribbean. (I think I’m going to get a bar of bay rum and see if I can recreate the smell of the mango daiquiris we drank in Punta Cana.) And yet, I’m not walking around smelling like fruit, which is a plus in my book. The soap really just left me feeling clean, I think I even squeaked a little.
If the thought of tropical fruit is too much of a tease for you this winter season, don’t worry, C.O.P.A. has a variety of pure essential-oil-scented soaps from which to choose, such as lemongrass, avocado, ginger carrot, lavender oatmeal, heathermint and many more. I see on their website that scrubs are also available, which I hope the studio will consider carrying. If not, soaps are available from the company’s website for $4.00 a piece and shipping is free for orders of ten bars or more. For more information, check out www.copasoaps.com.
